Fabergé

Fabergé Montreal - Pumpkin Waffles
Pumpkin Waffles with cranberry compote and caramelized pecans

Have I mentioned to you how much I LOVE breakfast? It can be the most magical meal of the day. I'm not talking about the cereal and yogurt kind of breakfast, in a rush, on the daily grind. I'm talking about the eggs benedict, french toast, bloody mary kind of breakfast/brunch that is usually reserved for the weekends.  Please tell me you agree with me on this.

One of my favorite places to indulge in this marvelous meal is Fabergé in Outremont. They have really fun, futuristic decor, and you can always expect old cartoon classics, like the Jetsons, to be playing on their TVs. Oh, the memories!  The setting, along with their cool clientele that range from young families to good-looking couples, makes for a fun and laidback environment.

I went back recently with my boyfriend so he could experience what I had been raving about. On the weekends, it's always busy, but we managed to snag seats facing the window, a way too perfect location for people watching.

We both ordered coffee drinks. I took a latte in a bowl because I was in major need of the caffeine. Alex took a cappuccino (in a cup). Their coffee is awesome.

For his meal, Alex ordered the typical manly breakfast lover plate, called Le Massive. It came with three eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, beans, creton, and your choice of a crepe or French toast; Alex chose the French toast. It was a very meaty meal, and he was quite satisfied with his selection.

I decided I would try their fall special: Pumpkin Waffles with cranberry compote and caramelized pecans. Can you blame me? Pumpkin waffles...uh, yummm! I also got a side order of sausage and potatoes. I love waffles, crepes, french toast... but I'm a savory girl at heart who needs her regular dose of sodium, if you know what I mean… The waffles were beautiful. They were light and airy. The pumpkin paired well with the tart compote whose bitterness was perfectly subdued by the caramelized pecans and drizzle of maple syrup. Go order this baby while you still can. It's truly fall done right.

Another really good dish they offer is their Breakfast Poutine. It's their signature dish which I actually snapped a shot of on a previous visit. It consists of home fries mixed with caramelized peppers and onions, cheese curds, and hollandaise sauce, topped with one egg, any style (I went for poached, obvi!). You can also add bacon, ham, or sausage for a little extra.  This dish is definitely a go-to. It's pretty much eggs benedict on top of a poutine...it seriously doesn't get any better.
